quilt number three........and counting

Here is quilt number three.
I made this from a jelly roll that my niece, Madi, bought me at Hettie's Patch. I wanted to do something a little more challenging than my previous two quilts but not something too taxing.

In hindsight, I think I could have made better use of the jelly roll but it is lovely (even if the quilting is very haphazard). I also could have made making the nine patches easier by sewing strips of the jelly roll together in 3's and then cutting them - maybe next time!

Mum and dad came over to look after Louis for a little while today. When I got back I found my dad ensconced under it, reading a good book. So, if it's good enough for my dad, well then it's good enough for me.

Emily's finally finished her quilt top that she started a while back. It would have been finished sooner, but school got in the way. We are waiting until she starts her holidays to buy the backing and wadding and start the process of pin basting and quilting. I think it's going to be a big job, but she's up for it!

This is how the finished product should look. She plans to stitch in the ditch and then stitch just inside the square as well which should keep her busy for a while!

cheers

ps a big thank you to donna for her yummy scone recipe. i made them for my mum and dad today and they went down a treat! my mum, the scone and pancake queen, loved them and wanted the recipe for herself.

You have a Hill's Hoist and a rustic washing trolley and basket, reminds me of my Nana's. Your newest quilt is beautiful, lovely fabrics and a really nice pattern. Congrat, you are learning so much so fast.

Emily's quilt is lovely, she is a real neat freak lining all her colours up in a diagonal pattern, looks great.

Try quilting the width of your walking foot away from your seam lines rather than the very difficult ditch quilting, it adds more texture, it's much easier and you can see more of the quilting.

This is just lovely...I wouldn't be able to resist snuggling under it either. It's satisfying isn't it when people enjoy something you have made with such care. Emily looks like quite the sewer....great skill!
