Future Artists

Hey there, it's Emily, just a quick post to showcase some of the things that all three of us children have been working on these past few days. (by the way, my quilt is practically finished - photos soon, and watch this blog for a post about a parcel I sent to England)

Julian and I have recently been inspired by this book to do some drawing.

These photos were taken on the webcam, you can see me in the background. Our camera is really broken now, fuzzy lines appear on the screen when you turn it on.
It is a beautiful book about gnomes, their houses, their diet, stories about gnomes etc.
Here are Julian's gnomes, gorgeous in my opinion. I should add that I coloured in the second one (just the gnome and his clothes).

I love them. I have been working on my own pictures as well, a gnome of course...

And some figure drawing as well...

Oh and of course, this gorgeous picture of mum, drawn by Louis.

Happy crafting everyone!

An Emily Update

Emily and I had a special weekend planned. We were going to go to Kadina for a quilting weekend with two of my sisters and my niece. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we were not able to go.... but we did get a bit of quilting done here.

This is Emily's quilt top

This weekend she managed to get her quilt pin basted and quilted - quite an achievement really.

Hard at work.

All she needs to do now is the binding and then it's all finished. She's already working on her next quilt. There is talk of a double bed quilt in Amy Butler fabrics. This would be beautiful, but I'm thinking perhaps a little expensive????

Her swap partner got her parcel yesterday and seems very happy with it. Emily took photos of it but unfortunately they are really blurry. Hopefully Lily will post some better photos.

David had a lovely weekend of gardening. After the little rain we had, he has been able to do some things in the garden, including planting a new vegetable garden and general maintenance work. He and the boys also planted the spring bulbs this weekend - I can't wait for spring.

We have school holidays for the next two weeks. I will enjoy the slower pace.
Here's hoping you all have a good week.

Quilts and bunnies

I've been meaning to post for a long time but firstly my camera didn't work and then I couldn't find the time to sit down in front of the computer..... I'm sooo behind in my blog reading too! Anyway, today the sun shone brightly and it was perfect for photographing so here we go......

Finally, my first quilt. Actually, it didn't take too long, considering I waited until most classes to work on it. I did a little bit of work on it in between lessons, but most of it was done in class. It was a great first quilt to make as it didn't take long, and yet I learnt so much about quilting. Now I just have to learn how to cut triangles......

Emily has started on her quilt, and I am hoping she finishes it soon as she seems very taken with mine and says she prefers it to our other lap blankets! I can see I'm going to have a fight on my hands tonight!

Julian and Louis both want their own quilts now as well, so I'm going to be one busy mumma. Luckily I'm quite taken with the quilting process and I'm happy to keep going. Right now I'm making one for mother's day and I also have plans to make a picnic rug from the beautiful jelly roll I got recently.

Secondly - Happy Easter! Okay, I know it was ages ago, but I got my Easter swap after Easter and this is the first chance I have had to post about it. My gorgeous bunny pillow was made for me by Leah. It is such a clever design and it's so beautifully made. I'm very impressed (and slightly embarassed by what I sent her now!! - lol). The front is appliqued with felt and the back is this absolutely gorgeous funky fabric.

I also got this beautiful handmade card and some chocolates.

I would show you the chocolates, but I needed a little energy before hitting the gym.......and the rest is history! They were yummy though and I did share them with the kids.

Emily has been very busy lately. She was a little envious of the swaps I have been participating in so she organised her own. She made some softies and swapped a whole lot of other things with Lily whose mother is from Vintage Pleasure. The parcel was sent last Wednesday (finally) and so hopefully Lily will be getting it soon. Once we are assured that Lily has the parcel, then Emily can post about it.
And, as I mentioned earlier - she has started on her quilt (same design as mine, different fabric). Hopefully she will have the top done soon so we can show you photos.

Well, the afternoon is drawing to a close and it's time to get organised for the evening ahead - dinner needs to be cooked, dishes done etc....... so I will leave it here.

Hope everyone is happy and well!
