My baby.....

Now don't get excited - the temperature hasn't dropped below 35C but I had to blog about this momentous occasion.
Yesterday my baby turned 5! We have some rather strange regulations here in SA so he had to wait until his birthday to start school. All the other kids have had a week at school to get to know each other and the routines etc.. anyway, I was really worried about him starting school but he was so brave and so happy at the end of the day that I think he will be okay!

Here's a picture of the birthday boy eating his cake. I feel a little guilty as I would normally make sure I have his favourite home made cake - but it's been so hot and I just couldn't stand the thought of turning oven on in my hot, hot kitchen so we had an ice cream cake instead.

Not that Louis minded!

Okay, that's it for now - they are forecasting a mild change on Sunday, so maybe I'll be back then........

Happy 5th Birthday Louis!

How strange Levin that he couldn't start school at the same time as everybody else, but never mind, he'll be up to speed within a couple of days.

I was a wee bit tense on Tom's first day too but he's settling in well and is really enjoying it. Sure it will be the same for Louis.

Ice cream cake sounds pretty damn good from where I'm sitting. Oh my god a big school boy how very exciting and scary all at the same time.

I love icecream so an icecream cake on a birthday during a relentless heatwave sounds fabulous. I can't believe your little ones have to wear such dark heat absorbing school clothes. Poor kiddos. Our kids both wear white shirts, probably a bit cooler especially in the government schools that don't have any aircon.

Happy happy five years to you all....I'm so glad for you that he's enjoying school...and ice cream cake! We are struggling a little here and I think I still feel lost because of that. *sigh*

I'm not sure I'm ready for him to be starting school already!! Who will paint me pictures and make me carry strange cardboard structures home now? :(

I'm hanging out for Sunday. Can't wait for cool days and chilled nights - our house may actually get a chance to cool down!
