It's too easy to think these days that the world is a sad place - there is so much greed and violence and anger but occasionally things happen that make you think that perhaps there is a little good in the world.
Now most people would know about the Victorian Bushfires and at my son's school there has been much discussion about it. One boy in Julian's class was very distressed about it and wanted to know if there was anything we could do to help. So, as a class they brainstormed and came up with having a casual day and charging everyone a gold coin donation to wear casual clothes.
I don't know how much they ended up making (probably lots if they were like me and didn't have any small change) but I just think it is so good that there are kids out there who understand kindness.
I just wish we didn't have to have a tragedy to find out how good people can be.
Stay safe and treasure those you love.

Kids are so honest with their feelings aren't they. How cool that they allowed them to do something towards the devastation to help. Such a great self esteem builder
They did this at my girls school today as well.
Just in the twins classs they raised over $100..not bad for 30 kids eh?
No 2 wants to do some extra chores so she can send her pocket money.
Aren't children wonderful? I find that quite often we adults can learn many things about kindness from them.
Such a wonderful story!!
Good to hear that the new generation thinks about others in need......
Take care!
Kids are so awesome and willing to help!! I think it's so nice that kids know that every little bit helps. Our friend's little boy (5 years old) wanted to pay for his own free dress day with his pocket money. So admirable. We can and should learn from our kids!
What a wonderful thing to do shame it takes such a tragedy for the nation to pull together.
Thank you for replying to my email. I am so glad that you are all ok, it is an awful time for you all at the moment. I have posted an award for you over on my blog.

I agree...our school did the exact same thing raising $1600 which is great for a little school! It's heartwarming to see all banding together and yes it is a shame it takes tragedy to be reminded to do so.
doesn't that just make you smile. children can teach us all so much about caring and giving. good for them!
