Mmmmmm peaches :)

I love peaches

I've been wanting to try my hand at preserving for years now but have always been a bit too scared.
But the other day I decided to bite the bullet and just do it!

Now we have jars of yummy peaches to savour in winter. We also have some dried peaches and we had some peach rollups but everyone seemed to love them (even those who are certain that they hate peaches) so we don't have rollups anymore. We do, however, have stewed peaches in the freezer waiting to be turned into peach rollups :)

Mmmmmm, I love peaches

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by Emma at HazyJane.
I'm supposed to open the 6th picture folder on my computer, then open up the 6th picture and blog about it. Well, this is it - it's a picture of Julian and Louis playing in the water park near our place. This is one of their favourite parks as you can play in the water, jump from rock to rock and, if you're really lucky, fall in :)
Really, how much fun can a kid have???

The photo is not the best and in doing this exercise I was reminded that I really need to go through all my pictures and delete those that are duplicates or not that good.
sigh
yet another job to add to the endless list.

so who do I tag?

karen
abby
lisa
nicolette
mirre
leanne

if you don't want to play, you don't have to - it's just kinda fun :)

Kindness

It's too easy to think these days that the world is a sad place - there is so much greed and violence and anger but occasionally things happen that make you think that perhaps there is a little good in the world.
Now most people would know about the Victorian Bushfires and at my son's school there has been much discussion about it. One boy in Julian's class was very distressed about it and wanted to know if there was anything we could do to help. So, as a class they brainstormed and came up with having a casual day and charging everyone a gold coin donation to wear casual clothes.
I don't know how much they ended up making (probably lots if they were like me and didn't have any small change) but I just think it is so good that there are kids out there who understand kindness.
I just wish we didn't have to have a tragedy to find out how good people can be.
Stay safe and treasure those you love.

My baby.....

Now don't get excited - the temperature hasn't dropped below 35C but I had to blog about this momentous occasion.
Yesterday my baby turned 5! We have some rather strange regulations here in SA so he had to wait until his birthday to start school. All the other kids have had a week at school to get to know each other and the routines etc.. anyway, I was really worried about him starting school but he was so brave and so happy at the end of the day that I think he will be okay!

Here's a picture of the birthday boy eating his cake. I feel a little guilty as I would normally make sure I have his favourite home made cake - but it's been so hot and I just couldn't stand the thought of turning oven on in my hot, hot kitchen so we had an ice cream cake instead.

Not that Louis minded!

Okay, that's it for now - they are forecasting a mild change on Sunday, so maybe I'll be back then........
