Look what we found! It was so exciting to find my first eggs. It's amazing how absolutely perfect they are. I think my girls are very clever and I'm rewarding them big time with fresh spinach and lots of lovely seeds.
I've been doing a little knitting lately. I guess it's because the weather has become cooler and the thought of knitting seems comforting. My knitting skills are pretty average - but lately I've been reading a book which has explained lots of things to me and I've just been giving them a go. I mean if worse comes to worse, I can just rip it out. So, here are some of my winter warmers so far....
The photo is pretty dodgy - but what can you do when it's just you and the bathroom mirror? This was a lovely pattern from Ravelry called Windy City Hat.
I've also made some fingerless gloves from this pattern. It took me five attempts but I finally figured it out. I'm very happy with them - they were very easy to make and I love the cable pattern. Have I ever told you how much I love Ravelry????!!!! It's so much fun :)

Ohhh your girls are being good, what did you end up making with your first egg! Can't wait until I can post pics of our first eggs....better get some chooks first - haha.
I didn't know you could knit...I started knitting a scarf on Sunday, I'm pretty bad but it is fun. Might need some lessons!!
Love the hat - it looks a lot like the blue cowl I made. And the fingerless gloves look so pretty and comfy. I love ravelry too!
everything in this post is gorgeous!! the eggs...YUM and your knitting is divine!!
I can see omelettes in your future soon. Love the cable on the glove.
Yippee! Nothing quite like that first egg find. I think your girls need to come and have a whisper to mine. Lovely knitting by the way...beautiful cable.
wow your cable knitting is very impressive. I like your have a go attitude - I'm still far to scared of trying something like cables.
Hooray for the hens, I hope you have been getting even more lovely fresh eggs.
congrats on the egg! Since we've been giving our girls a grain mix called "layer mash" they've been laying relly well. Lots of vege scraps too of course! Great knitting too, looks those babies will keep you nice and warm!x emma
They both look great! How exciting about the eggs! I so wish I could keep chickens...
I adore those fingerless gloves!! It's my goal to be able to make a pair of them before the winter's through. Just took my first hat off the needles and working on a cowl now. Enjoy your creations! xo m.
thats ok that you couldnt make it over, hope julian is all better now and that your study is going well
just thought id let you know that i would have sent up your neighbours chook on tuesday but ive been having some mite and scaly leg mite (yes both! i know, lucky me:()issues. ive treated all the chooks and area for both but recently i saw what i think was a few mites again:( i could probably have stuck her in a seperate box, treated her one last time and she would have been fine but id just hate to send her off and then find out that your neighbour ends up with one of the problems! so just let her know that the chook is still coming, im just making sure shes healthy first (fingers crossed that this time ive got rid of all the little buggers and that will be soon)
That egg looks good enough to eat LOL. I too like rivalry I haven't done any knitting this winter. Love your hat I'm not sure about fingerless gloves as my fingers are always sooooo cold.
Yay for eggs - I live next door to my mum and she has 3 chickens - so 3 eggs a day :)
It is so nice having homegrown eggs. Your hat looks very pretty and I love those gloves. They look like they would be perfect for this winter weather we are having.
